Notes for sceptics

So you don't believe in ghosts, or magic, or demons, or fairies, or UFOs, or whatever.

Fine. There are a lot of things that I don't believe in either.

One thing I do believe in quite firmly is your right to disagree with me. Science doesn't explain the things I see and do, but I honestly believe that it will eventually. You may not, and that's your right.

On a similar note, your religious or spiritual views may not agree with mine. That's fine too, although I respectfully ask that you don't trouble yourself writing to me in an attempt to save my soul or convert me to your particular flavour of spiritual enlightenment. I'm not trying to convert you, and think it's fair to hope that you might extend me the same courtesy.

The fact is that I don't want to get involved with protracted arguments about whose view of the universe is right. I'm comfortable with the way I see things, and hope you are too. Tolerance seems to be much under-rated as a virtue these days; let's try to bring it back into fashion, eh?
